Freddy Ng Chun Chin grew up on construction sites across Penang as a second-generation builder. Seeing how fragmented Malaysia’s renovation industry had become, with middleman markups, unvetted sub-contractors, slipping timelines and inconsistent quality, he set out to build a different model.
Legno was founded on one conviction: an interior design firm should be able to design, manufacture and build under one roof.
From a two-person operation in a 400 sq ft Gelugor office, Legno has grown into a 30-person multidisciplinary studio with its own carpentry factory, engineering workshop and design atelier, serving clients from Georgetown luxury condominiums to corporate headquarters for SP Setia Group, IOI Oleochemical, Sunway Property, OSRAM and Honda.
Today Legno is the only interior design and build firm in Penang holding CIDB G5, ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certification at the same time.
