When it comes to interior designing, one room in the house where you can be as creative and as crazy as you want is the kid’s bedroom. A kids’ room should be two things: fun and functional. The kids’ room should be designed keeping in mind a few factors including but not limited to the age of the child, interests and hobbies, adaptability, functionality and above all safety.
We at LEGNO are full-service interior design company in Penang, Malaysia. Our designs are a perfect combination of our love for beautiful interiors, our passion and professionalism. Our idea of a spectacular kids’ room isn’t just a combination of bright colors, furnishing and décor items. We believe that a room comes to life with proper space planning, customized textiles, bespoke furniture with special emphasis on safety. From the conception of the idea to its execution, we make sure that our designs are a true depiction of our commitment and love for the craft.
Designing a kids’room is as much challenging as it is fun. On one hand, you get a chance to play with colors, design elements and your imagination while on the other hand putting everything together in a way that the room gives a cohesive look can be a bit difficult. Since our inspiration comes from nature and we like to experiment with subtle tones; designing a room for kids does not come easy.
Our newly designed kids’ room is a perfect combination of a variety of pastel colors. Where many designers find it convenient to work with loud and bright colors, we have made softer colors and subtle shades our strength. The first look at the room reminds you of a cotton candy. Softest shades of pink, blue and yellow are distributed evenly throughout the room. From paint to cabinet doors and shelves to decorative elements, the colors speak for themselves. The carefully selected shades not only complement each other but they also give a fresh look. The neutral colors are perfectly suitable for both boys and girls.
Growing kids need lots of vitamin D which comes from the Sun. Big windows not only look artsy but they also bring lots of natural light and keep the room ventilated. Window curtains, blinds and shades are an important part of a room’s interior design. A matching curtain or blind adds value to the theme. The window of this kids’ room has been dressed with blinds instead of curtains. It is better to design a room intended for kids with elements that are convenient to handle and are less messy. Curtains are difficult to handle so blinds are excellent choices for children’s room. The yellow color of blinds has made the window area come to life.
Where it is easier to opt for any kind of flooring for other rooms, the flooring for kids’ room should be selected keeping in mind the safety of the children. Wooden flooring is the best choice in every aspect. Wooden flooring is natural and contributes to healthier indoors and is easier to maintain. The best thing is that they match perfectly with any theme and kind of interior design. The area rugs offer added space for kids to play on the floor. You can play with shapes and colors when it comes to rugs. This room features a round-shaped green rug which adds a bit of freshness and brightness to the room and provides extra space for sitting and playing.
The bedroom is a kid’s safe haven. This is the place where he can sleep, play, study and be crazy. The furniture of the kids’ room should be selected and placed very carefully. The furniture should be comfortable, practical and safe. The factors that should be kept in mind while selecting furniture are age and gender of the child, number of children the room is intended for, and their likes and dislikes.
This kids’ bedroom by LEGNO is designed for two kids and features two queen size beds. One of them is a platform bed and the other is a bunk bed. The bunk bed can be approached through stairs cum drawers. The space-saving feature of the furniture offers extra space for storage and moving around. The bunk bed is secured with framed netting that is enhancing the look of the room. Underneath the bunk bed are shelves that cab used for anything from décor items to books and toys.
The platform bed has a partial canopied headboard that makes it perfect for kids’ imagination to run wild. What’s better than a room having a partial tent and a football net look-alike beds to have non-stop fun.
No room is complete without proper storage space. The room for kids requires extra storage space as the stuff that needs to be stored is more than adults. Keeping in mind the functionality and utility, LEGNO kids’ room has ample storage space in the form of shelves, storage racks and wardrobes. Wall length wardrobes have spacious shelves for clothes (folded and hanged) for two children. Plain white cupboards have multi-colored decorative elements in coordinating colors. The minimalist décor not only gives a clean and uncluttered look. The layout has ample cupboards for storing toys and other kids’ stuff. The counter-tops can be used to display mini-figures, projects and décor items. Kids’ room is designed in a way that it offers open areas for playing and doing art & craft activities. The open space next to cabinets can be utilized in various creative ways. Just throw a rug and enjoy reading books or unlimited playtime.
Besides being colorful and attractive, a kids’ room should be functional as well. What is a kids’ room without a study table? The presence of a proper study area not only sets the mood of the children but it also helps them stay organized. Since this latest LEGNO kids’ room is a twin bedroom, the study is designed keeping in mind the needs of two children. Spacious tabletop offers lots of space for keeping books, stationery, art material and even a PC or laptop. The two-toned wall behind the table has display racks in coordinating colors matching the theme of the room. The racks can be used to display souvenirs, toys or anything that the kids like. The bookshelf is on the right side of the table and is spacious enough to keep all the school-related stuff in an organized manner. Casual chairs in the white color not only look belonged to the overall subtle theme of the room but also offer a relaxed posture for hours of study and creative work.
